There is a brown background to all page headers and I can’t find where that was set.
Where is this being controlled and how can I turn it off?

Did u go to appearance>site identity>colors?
If that is not it, then use the control inspect tool to get css code to change color for that area.
Figured it out - It is the color set in the site settings, but there is CSS in the theme file adding an awful overlay changing what the color looks like. I removed it and hid the element with css. Resolved!
