When you go to the wordpress users section and try to change the publicly displayed name and refresh it, it doesn’t change. This is only fixed when the hivepress plugin is disabled.

Yes, HivePress adds common user display name format settings to unify the display name generation, this way you can set a common format for user and vendor names. Please try setting it in HivePress/Settings/Users/Display section.
