Quick question for you and I know that you have a few posts on this topic, so I’ll be brief. You have your standard Listing Page that has a Map on it - https://www.carsfreak.com/listings/ and it’s not really the best for the “First Impression” of the listings if there are not a lot of listings on a new website.
I was going to edit it using Code Snippets within the child theme, but would I be better off just creating a Template and rebuilding a new “Listings” (name it something else), making that the page link on the header instead of messing with the default listing page?
Could you please clarify whether you would like to hide the map until the site expands, or you want other changes in your site? If you want to hide the map on the Listing Page, please see the solution in this topic:
Thank you for your response about the Map issue. I agree with you on the Map API usage issue. I think the Map is also tied to the Geolocation for having people enter, browse and search listings, so if you turn off the Mapbox or Google Maps function you’re going to probably lose that ability as well, and not just displaying of a map, correct? I’ve just left it alone for now because of this issue being a far bigger concern as our websites scale.
So basically, there are two ways to hide the map: either with CSS or by using a PHP snippet with the template hook. As was mentioned in another topic, please note that these options don’t globally disable the loading of the map’s JS scripts, so the location search will still work.
