How to set up revenue structure that charges a percentage of transactions as platform fee?

Is there a way to set up a revenue model similar to airbnb where users only get charged a percentage of transactions made on the site. I also don’t understand listing claim fee…If user adds a listing why then must user claim the listing and then be charged.

Any help with these so appreciated.

Do you have more information on what you are building / selling and whom your customers are?

Hi & thanks for asking…I’m building a marketplace where users can post items. Similar to Airbnb, users who sell and users who buy would be charged platform fees-which is Airbnb’s revenue structure. How can I do the same on my platform? This is the main inquiry I have. A side question is I am not understanding Listing Claims wherein users who post a listing must later “claim” their listing and pay a fee for claiming it…I’m using Lisitinghive and Hivepress plugins and the “Listing Claim” plugin is said to be just one way to monetize the site.

Hi,

Regarding commission, please check this doc How to set up commissions - HivePress Help Center and this course The complete course on setting up RentalHive - HivePress Help Center

As for Claim Listings, installing it is unnecessary; it is just one of the common extensions with some options depending on the functionality. Listing Claims is unsuitable for an Airbnb business model, so that you can ignore this extension.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Thanks Andril,

The course confirmed that I’ve done what I’m supposed to do in order to receive a percentage of sales as platform fees. I only needed to create items to test and see that the commission rate I set would be included in successful transactions. Now I’m having a glitch where my terms of use page doesn’t consistently display when test user click the link at registration. Instead of it going to the terms of use page, it will sometimes go to my premium listing page. If I refresh and start over, it will go to the terms page. When I try another test user registration, it will again go to the premium product page…frustrating.

Hi,

Please ensure the terms and conditions page is listed in HivePress > Settings > Listings > Submission Terms Page. Also, please refresh the permalink structure in Settings/Permalinks (choose any structure with %postname% if the default one is selected) and check if this issue persists, and please disable third-party plugins and customizations (if there are any) and check if this issue persists. If you use a caching plugin, ensure that caching is disabled for logged-in users.

P.S. If you purchased a theme or extension, please enter the license key in the forum profile settings, this will enable the Premium Support badge and ensure a 24-hour turnaround time.

Hi,

I don’t have a cache plug in and I’m using Listinghive free theme, no paid extensions either, just a bunch of plugins I bought that were recommended for this kind of marketplace.

Submissions terms page is set to terms of use, this is why it sometimes goes to the right page. The terms page link in footer always goes to term page, seems only glitching when at registration and sometimes when I test a purchase as it is on the check out page as well.

Per your directive I chose the permalink structure with %postname%,I notice there is a field at the bottom of page asking for a custom base, the field was prefilled in with /products/

Do I need to add something there?

I tried to register again as new test user from front end and again terms link went to premium listing page…

Hi,

Still, we recommend disabling third-party plugins and additional customizations, leaving only HivePress. As for the permalinks structure, you don’t need to add anything there, just save the changes.
