Hello, my name is Christian, this is my very first topic.
I’m trying to create my very first site with "ListingHive & HivePress.
I would like to know if it is possible that only the administrator can post announcements.
If so, can he submit them through the back office without going through the “add ads” button.
I would have liked users not to see the button.
Thank you for your answers.
Mon cricri d’a… !
Yes, you have a built-in option for that :
Good morning,
thank you very much for your response and for “Mon crici d’a…!” :-). However, you tell me that there is a solution for this, but you don’t tell me how and where to find it.
It would be very nice of you if you could help me.
THANKS.
HivePress > Settings
Ok thank you, I understood Hivepress setting, and then what should I do? I uncheck “Allow the proposal of new ads?”
If that’s it, what do I do next to post ads.
I’m sorry but I’m a newbie.
Thank you so much.
Way to go mon cricri !
Hi,
If you want only the administrator to be able to post listings on the backend, then yes, you need to disable the Allow submitting new listings feature. Once this feature is enabled, then the Add Listing button will be available on the frontend and any vendor will be able to add a listing.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Hello, thank you for your response which was very useful to me.
Thank you very much.
Hello, thank you for your time and for your answers.
Thanks again.
Hello Andrii,
I apologize in advance, I must surely be stupid, but I can’t understand how I can post an ad when there is no longer the “add an ad” button visible on the site.
I thank you in advance for your help.
It’s ok mon Cricri.
You have access to the back-end, right (/wp-admin/) ?
Then you can post a new listing (what you call an “ad”) :
Hello and thank you for your response.
Ok, that’s what I did, but I wanted to know if there was another solution, because I don’t have access to the theme’s media library to add images.
But no worries, I go through my image folder.
Thanks again.
It’s weird, you don’t have access to the theme’s media library…
Another solution would be to display the add listing (or ad) button on the front-end only when current user is admin. But that would require some coding skills you probably don’t have, and might be overkill.
Something similar to the solution given in this discussion :
This could help too :
Hello,
thank you very much for all your answers and for the time you took for me.
If I don’t succeed with all this, it’s because I’m really stupid… Indeed, I don’t have the skills to get my hands on the code…
Thank you very much again, you are great.
I will let you know if I succeeded.
Good day.
I am local with “local” I can send you the link if you want.
Thanks.
