MapLibre (the open source Mapbox) could probably be easily integrated. Since it is supposed to be a fork of Mapbox, the Mapbox coding might work. Please see ---

Please remember that both HivePress and Geolocation are open-source and free to use, if some feature is urgent then anyone can contribute by adding a feature by themselves or hiring a developer and then sharing the code that we can consider merging into Geolocation. We currently follow the publicly available roadmap with 100% of the developer time resources we have at the moment, but in any case we’ll try to improve Geolocation with every update. ---

Hello HivePress Support Team, First, I’d like to thank you for the great features HivePress offers. I’ve been searching through the support forum regarding the use of OpenStreetMap, as it’s the mapping service we currently use for our websites. We’re in the process of switching over to HivePress for our directory websites and noticed requests for OpenStreetMap integration dating back to June 5th, 2023, and earlier. Since geolocation is such an important feature for directory and classified ad listings, I wanted to check if there are any plans to add OpenStreetMap support to HivePress. Google Maps and Mapbox can become quite expensive, especially for directories with a lot of listings, so OpenStreetMap integration would be highly beneficial for us. Most directory themes on ThemeForest have OpenStreetMap built in, so I wanted to confirm whether this is something HivePress plans to implement soon or if I should consider hiring a developer to create a custom plugin for this. I understand that feature development takes time, but I’m hopeful for any updates you might have. I appreciate any clarification or updates you can provide before I proceed with building a custom solution. Thank you. ---

Hi, Unfortunately, we don’t have an exact ETA for when this integration will be available, as we change the roadmap depending on the needs and urgency of certain features. Therefore, if you need to get this feature as soon as possible, I recommend that you consider hiring an expert to help you. ---

Hi, and thank you so much for your plugin – I’m currently using it and it works great! However, I’ve noticed that the map tiles appear a bit blurry and the colors are quite light. I was wondering if there’s a good way to make the map look sharper and have more contrast. I saw that someone had used Protomaps in combination with MapLibre to improve both clarity and visual style. Since I don’t know much about coding myself, I wanted to ask if it would be possible to integrate Protomaps (or a similar map tile provider) with your plugin? Also, as I understand it, with Protomaps there may be a way to group map markers and display a number when multiple listings are at the same location. Right now, the markers overlap completely, so only the top one can be clicked. Do you (or anyone else) know if it’s possible to improve these things while still using your plugin? Hi, Thanks for the details. Please note that we receive this display exclusively from the provider that is configured, i.e. Google Maps or Mapbox. If you need to change the visual part, it will require advanced customization. ---

Hi, The plugin I’m referring to in my previous message is the one that Xbelmondo provided, which I’m now using. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any HivePress site that uses the combination of Protomaps and MapLibre—I was only pointing out that I’ve seen that combination; MapLibre + Protomaps + OpenStreetMap on another site (for real estate sales). ---
