Option to temporarily block dates or time slots

Hi,

when payments do not necessarily occur at the moment of booking, like when people pay in cash or via bank deposit, it might be useful to introduce an option for hosts to allow booking dates temporarily for a certain period. If payment has not arrived after that period, the dates (or time slots) become available again.

The host would have three options for a listing:

  • Allow direct bookings
  • Allow only booking requests
  • Allow direct booking temporarily for a certain period of time (hours, days…)

This new option would (partially) avoid a problem:

  1. A user wants to book an apartment
  2. The host only accepts booking requests (dates are not blocked)
  3. The user has to wait until the host accepts
  4. The host only accepts when the bank transfer has arrived
  5. Via another platform (lets say Airbnb) another user books the dates that the first user wanted, because there the host allows direct bookings for some reason
  6. The first user loses the booking, and maybe even the money if it was still transferring
  7. The host would have a problem deciding to cancel the Airbnb booking or canceling the booking on Rentalhive and returning the money manually…

Hi,

You can configure statuses in HivePress > Bookings > Blocking Statuses, and additionally specify the Expiration Period. Then, if Unpaid is added to Blocking Statuses and the Expiration Period is two days, the booking request will block a maximum of two days of dates or time slots.

Hi,

what you describe would allow me as web admin to block the dates for a specified time.

But what I meant is to give each individual user the option to specify how many hours/days he wants to let his customers have to make a payment. Because one user might want to give 6 hours, and the other user 2 days…

Would that be an idea?

Unfortunately, there are no such per-listing settings yet, but we have added this task to the backlog and will consider adding it. Currently, you can only block globally for all listings.
