Row is empty or invalid when importing listings

Hi. I’m trying to import a file and received an error message that “Row #1 is empty or invalid”. Could you please help me understand what is happening?

Hi,

Yes, you need to import listings using a CSV file. Please see this documentation for details: How to set up and import listings - HivePress Help Center. Also, check out this sample CSV file sample.csv - Google Drive. However, please note that you can only import listings. That is, if you need to import, for example, vendors, there is no such functionality, it will require the use of third-party plugins such as WP All Import (note that this plugin requires field mapping).

In the example file given the field names are all lower case. That might be what’s up.

Regarding your question, I did not see a category field in your file. Please add a category field to the CSV file and specify the category you have in Listings > Categories, then everything should work correctly.

If I make the “category” field optional, should that also work?

@khyurt4 - Logically, I think that would ‘break’ things within HivePress as listings are tied to categories as far as I understand.

Unfortunately, this will not work because there is no simple option to make the category field optional. The easiest option is to delete all categories, then when importing, you will not need to select a category.
