I want more than 4 categories in my Top Categories - I see the columns only goes to 4 which is fine, but the number goes higher. is there a snippet to allow more top categories by scrolling to the right or left? (please please say yes!).

Unfortunately, there is no such possibility, it will require a custom implementation since the maximum number of columns displayed on a page is 4. But if you are referring to the number of categories in general, you can change this in WP Dashboard > Pages > Home > Edit > Select the categories block > On the right sidebar in Number failed, enter e.g. 5 instead of 3.
