Add several locations to the same listing

Hi,

one user already asked a year ago, but would it be possible to implement in future updates the option to add several locations to the same listing?

This would be useful for example if a business has several franchises, like a “McDonalds”.

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, this feature has been added to the roadmap, but it will not be added until 2024.

Hello,

will the update also modify the way Regions work in Geolocation?

I mean, currently, if Regions are enabled, you can search for “Italy” and all the listings in Italy should appear, no matter their address. That works.

What does not work is the other way around. If your listing has the country Italy as location, and a user searches for listings in Rome, that listing does not show.

For example, a user uploads a listing “Online italian lessons” and he sets Italy as his location, because obviously it is online and it does not matter where people live. Then nobody will find his listing if they search for listings in Rome, in Sicily, Naples…

Is this also on the roadmap to be changed?

Thanks!

Hi,

Most likely, you do not have generated regions because searching for Rome should only show ads from Rome (from a generated region); please review this doc How to set up regions - HivePress Help Center

Hi,

I set up Regions correctly. There are no issues.

I am only asking (feature request) if you will also change how Regions work in the upcoming updates.

EXAMPLE:

How it works now

  1. I have a business directory website where you can list your business.
  2. Your business is online, available in the whole country. Let’s say, Italy.
  3. You list your business on my website and put Italy as the location.
  4. Currently, only users who put “Italy” in the location field will find you. If you put Rome in the location field, nobody finds your listing, even it if it is actually available in whole Italy.

Feature requested

  1. Same as above
  2. Same as above
  3. Same as above
  4. If a user puts “Rome” in the location field, your listing should appear, because Rome is part of Italy.

This makes a lot of sense for all online businesses.

I hope I could explain it better now.

Thanks!

Thanks for the details, this makes sense and we’ll check if there’s a solution for this. Please recommend your users to set a precise location (at least a city) to temporarily resolve this, you can also check this during the listing moderation.

Hi

Yes I did tell them, but of course it is only a workaround for now. I hope this will turn into a feature or fix later on.

Thank you

Hi,

as I reported last year here Add several locations to the same listing - #8 by Jay3 , an example of a listing that is set to have “Italy” as location (imagine it is an online business operating in whole Italy), that listing does not appear in search results if someone searches for those listings in “Rome” or “Milan”, etc…

And similarly, if Rome is the general location of the listing, the listing does not appear when searching in smaller areas of Rome, let’s say “Central Rome”.

This is very important but since I reported it I think it was not added to a roadmap or fixed at all.

Could there be a solution for this?

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes, we are aware of this issue and it has been added to the bug tracker, we will try to fix it as soon as possible.
