Hivepress/Listingpress sets users as contributors when creating a listing, correct? How would that same user be able to create a blog-type post. Is there a button that lets them post a blog and not only a listing? i would like vendors to be able to post about their business on a blog page.

Yes, Contributor users can do this via the WP dashboard but I don’t recommend this, users don’t have to know that you use WordPress (they don’t even have the admin toolbar). If you want to allow users to submit posts to your blog please check some plugins that add front-end forms for this.
