Hey,
While I’m quite happy with the look and styling of the default blocks, I think it would be a much better idea if the HivePress blocks were more customisable and less hardcoded with their design.
For example, if I selected the Categories block, it would be nice if the options for the block included things like:
Checkboxes to:
- display/hide the item counter
- display/hide the category titles
- display/hide the category description
- display/hide the category image overlay
To further customise the blocks, it would also be nice if we could either drag the components of each block to our preferred position, or include options like:
Item counter position:
- top left
- top right
- bottom left
- bottom right
- centered, etc.
Furthermore, I’m sure users would highly appreciate ‘easier controls’ for editing the CSS of elements, like the font size, text colour, background colour (of the item counter) and so on. Not only would this allow site admins to more easily customise the blocks, (and, help reduce the amount of forum spam about simple customisations), we wouldn’t need to rely on using custom CSS for even the most simple of changes.
To be perfectly honest, I wish all of HivePress was built in this way regarding customising the pages created/used by the plugin. Ideally, I’d like if the plugin would auto-generate all of the necessary front-end pages, and allow each page to be edited and designed like a regular page.
Don’t get me wrong; HivePress is certainly a brilliant plugin that can provide a ton of functionality to a site, but I feel it could be made a lot easier for site admins to customise.
Ps: Apologies if any of my suggestions come across badly; I only want to make HivePress the best plugin possible. It’s obvious by the code and functionality that you’re capable of creating an awesome plugin, but I feel it would take it to the next level if it was a bit more ‘standard’ in terms of customising, etc. for less seasoned developers. I can only speak for myself, but I love focusing on the visual aspects of designing a site. Hence, why I’d ideally like to use the Kadence Theme as it would open up a huge amount of customisation options; if it would only integrate well. The main issue seems to be with the grid/layout conflicting, as well as, Kadence Theme’s custom header builder and seperate mobile menu; but that’s another topic.
