Hello, I would like to change the usernames of users on my site, but I noticed that it might be risky for a specific username in a topic because it is the only unique attribute of the user. I would like to know if there are any updates on this, as it is very inconvenient. I would also like to know if there is already an implementation for this, and what to do if users log in via social login like Google, and therefore cannot choose their username when logging in through Google.
I would also like to add that when I choose the option to publicly highlight a specific username, it does not work at all. Even after saving, the changes do not apply.
I was able to make simultaneous modifications via the DivePress settings. However, it’s a shame that the username cannot be displayed; at least, I can’t find the option for it.
Hi,
Unfortunately, the username cannot be changed because it is the only unique value for users in WordPress.
For more information on how to generate a username when you sign up via Social Login, please check this topic: How to set the username when sing in with Social Login.
Regarding the issue with the feature of public highlighting of a specific username, please provide more details (e.g., your actions step by step with screenshots, etc.). This will help us to reproduce and resolve the issue faster.
