Can users add testimonials?

There is no provision on the listing page for any user to leave behind a testimonial. They can however write a review.

How does one get a testimonial from a website user without them accessing the WordPress dashboard.

The option to add a testimonial is only there in the dashboard. There is no option for anyone to add a testimonial either to a listing or to the website.

Testimonials give depth to content, therefore any help in getting them is deeply appreciated.

Hi @Vinod,

Reviews are the only built-in option at the moment. Assuming you have the HivePress Reviews extension installed and activated, upon viewing a listing the option to leave a review can be found in the sidebar, as shown in the screenshot from the ListingHive demo page:

By default, HivePress prevents users from leaving reviews on their own listing, so you’ll need multiple test accounts to see how it all works.

HivePress reviews are stored as comments in the backend of WordPress, but it’s not necessary for end users to require use of the backend.

When users click Write a Review, a small popup modal window appears, similar to how the login form does.

Also, within HivePress’s settings > Users tab, you can also further prevent access to the backend:

Depending on your preference and use-case, you can also choose to limit reviews to only verified customers. This option is found in HivePress > Settings > Orders tab.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,

Reviews are fine, the question was of someone leaving a testimonial.

I guess there is no separate option for leaving a testimonial behind.

Yet, there is a section for testimonials. And dummy data too has some testimonials.

Question was how were those collected in the first hand?

Hi,

If you’re referring to the Testimonials section used in premium themes, then yes, this section can only be filled by admins. Please consider creating a page in WordPress Pages with a contact form titled something like “Submit a Testimonial” with fields to fill out. You can then manually transfer submissions to the Testimonials section when you receive them. It’s not an automatic feature like reviews, it’s more like blog posts, serving as editorial content.
