I’m adding in test users with user roles that give them permissions in other areas of the site other than job ads. When a new user posts an ad, it is adding “Contributor” and wiping out any other user roles that user has which is then restricting them on pages they need access to. Is there a setting that I need to change to fix this so that it is just adding “contributor” and not replacing all user roles with contributor?
Yes, this is the minimum role for users in order to be set as authors of content in WordPress. If you add custom roles, please make sure that this role has “edit_posts” capability, then role will not be changed when user gets their first listing approved.
