I am using TaskHive. I am new to WordPress. I have collected some user data and I want to create user profiles (vendors) from the back end. Can I do this with the predefined WordPress user roles? I believe, in order for the user to edit their profile, they need to be an Author. Will this work? Obviously I will then send them their user login details.
Hi,
Yes, you can create users from the backend. If you need this user to create ads, you first need to create a user in WP Dashboard > Users, and then create a vendor in WP Dashboard > Vendors and select this user. Please note that the user role for the vendor must be Contributor.
I hope this is helpful to you.vendor’s user role
Thank you. However when I did this, the user sees the WordPress login page when logging in. I don’t want that.
Hi,
If you want to hide the Sigh in button, then please navigate to HivePress > Settings > Users and disable the Allow user registration feature.
No. That is not what I want to do.
Hi,
Please send more details about your question, and we will do our best to help you.
I want to create user accounts to send the login details to them via email while we are making the final touches to the site. However, when i tested the login link, the WordPress login page came up, not the login page for my site. Also, the user is displayed on the back end as a Subscriber, not a Contributor if they sign up using Google email.
Lastly, the new user email verification is not arriving in the new users inbox. Help appreciated.
Hi,
Please make sure that you send a link to your website in this way: https://example.com
without the /wp-admin
ending.
As for users, if you need this user to create listings, you first need to create a user in WP Dashboard > Users, then create a vendor in WP Dashboard > Vendors, and select this user. Please note that the vendor’s user role must be Contributor.
Regarding the emails, please check this doc: How to set up emails - HivePress Help Center
Thanks I will try this and update.
I will of course send the link NOT containing /wp-admin. However, it’s the automated email that arrives to the user that sends the link to the WP admin page.
how do i edit the link sent in the email to verify it that comes from HivePress?
Hi,
For our part, we use the built-in WordPress verify email feature as it is the safest solution. But, please note that when you click on this link in your email, you should not be redirected to the admin page. If you are confused that the link itself contains WordPress features, then unfortunately, there is no easy solution to hide it; it will require a custom implementation or the use of third-party plugins (e.g., HideWP).
Please see the image I’ve uploaded for info. This shows to 2 links sent to new users containing wp-admin. It is also not clear to the user what these links do, or why there are 2.
Hi,
Please note that this is not our email, it’s the email from WordPress when you sign up through their built-in form. Our email is User Registered, which you can customize in HivePress > Emails.
Please provide more details on how you registered, specifically your step-by-step instructions (if possible, please send a screencast).
If you mean to add a user via the backend, we recommend unchecking Send User Notification so that the email will not be sent. Also, please note that there is no such email on the HivePress side when you manually create a user, you need a custom implementation, but unfortunately, this is not our scope, as it is a WordPress customization.
