Creating a page that displays filtered listings that relate to a specific location?

Hi, I am creating a directory that relates to a popular holiday destination in the UK.

I want to create a pillar page that allows me to display a selection of the best places to stay, eat and the best things to do in that location. I can’t see how i can group this content together on one page.

For example I want the page laid out like this:

Location

Best places to eat

Display 6 places to eat (based on the location) and a link below to display ALL

Best places to stay

Display 6 places to eat (based on the location) and a link below to display ALL

Best things to do

Display 6 of the best activities (based on the location) and a link below to display ALL

Beneath the above I want to display a list of 10 latest blogs that relate to this location.

This is all I need to achieve but I can’t work out how to do this. All of my attributes are filterable (I assumed i would be able to select the attribute from the filter box in the block editor and this would simply display what i want but this does not seem to be possible. Maybe I need to change the way I have categorised my listings? I would have thought something like this is pretty fundamental, is this possible? I love Hivepress by the way so I really hope you can tell me how to achieve this. Thanks, JV,

Hi,

We are planning to automate this. For now, the recommended workaround is to use the Listings block. If you are using Geolocation with regions, you can add a Region filter in the block settings. This allows you to create WordPress pages with the Listings block inserted, each using different combinations of settings such as category and specific region. You can then title these pages like “Best … in …” and include some SEO content.

At the bottom of the Listings block, add a “View All” button to link to full search results. This approach provides SEO content, a sample of fresh listings by location and other parameters, plus an easy way for users to access more listings.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, this works perfectly. May i suggest making a short YouTube video just about ‘Regions’ because I get the impression that a lot of people are looking to add this functionality to their websites but maybe don’t realise that you can use ‘Regions’ to do it.

Many thanks

JV
