Custom attributes are missing from the Primary Search Form settings in HivePress

Hi HivePress team,

I’m having an issue displaying my custom attributes in the search bar on my homepage (Primary Search Form).

The problem: Even though I have created attributes like “Property Type” and “Neighborhood” and configured them correctly, they do not appear as options in HivePress > Settings > Listings > Search Form > Default Fields. Only “Keywords” and “Categories” are available there.

What I have already configured in the Attribute settings:

  1. Type: Select.

  2. Search: Indexed for search, Filterable, and Search Field set to “Select”.

  3. Display: I have assigned “Block (Primary)” and “Page (Primary)” as display areas.

  4. Categories: The attributes are assigned to all listing categories.

  5. Selection: I have tested with “Allow multiple selection” both enabled and disabled.

  6. Data: There are published listings that have these attributes selected.

Despite this, they are visible in the sidebar of the results page, but I cannot add them to the main search bar on the homepage.

Could you please let me know if there is a specific setting or a code snippet I need to force these attributes into the primary search form?

Thank you!

Hi,

Welcome to the community. :alien_monster:

If an attribute is marked as searchable, it will automatically be displayed in the search form. The fields you see in Settings > Listings > Search Form are built-in fields that can only be configured through the settings page itself. Attributes, on the other hand, have all their settings contained within them, so once you mark an attribute as searchable, it will appear in the search form right away.

Please note that if you made the attribute category-specific, this field will only appear in the search form once you select the category to which it belongs.

Let me know if you need any help setting this up.
