I’m too far into my project to switch platforms. I really don’t understand the difference between packages and memberships. What are these people getting as part of a package/membership? I would assume they would be able to buy 3 videos for package/membership one or 5 videos for package/membership 2. Right? But then how would I assign a package to a vendor? The person would have to submit a request in order for a vendor to accept it, right? Then how do I give the vendor the balance for the package the person paid for? There seems to be no thoughtful process here.

The Memberships extension implements a different monetization model, you can use it to charge regular users for browsing your site (e.g., hide some specific listing details and reveal them to members only or specific pages). If you want to charge vendors for adding listings, you can use the Paid Listings extension instead.

No. Not really. I have all the extensions and feel it’s a waste of money. Your documentation is horrible, and nothing works as expected. For instance, a Package. What is a Package? What do you get for a Package? What is a use case for a Package? No documentation. All of your documentation says activate; there you go. How would you divi up money from a package to different vendors?

Sorry if there was a confusion, Paid Listings is a pretty common way to monetize directory/marketplace websites. Please find more details here How to Monetize a WordPress Directory Website | HivePress A package is basically a limit of listings with optional extra features (e.g. extended expiration period) per listing. If you use Paid Listings extensions and add at least 1 package then vendors will have to choose a package when they add listings, they will not be able to add unlimited listings. This way you can charge a flat fee per added/renewed listing.
Plans are related to the Memberships extension, it’s a different monetization model where you charge regular users (not vendors) for accessing the website, for example if listings contain some valuable information (e.g. contact phone numbers) that you want to sell access to.
Please let me know if any extra clarification is needed, we have screencasts and blog posts which describe these monetization models in detail. We’ll also try to improve the documentation for each of our extensions.
