I would really love to use the direct vendor registration, it will make it more straightforward and smooth for my vendors. But after activating it and setting up the menu label with the url http://website.com/register-vendor as directed in your post, it doesn’t bring out any registration form. It only redirects to the login modal, and even after clicking the register link at the log in modal, it displays the original login page for users. what can I do about that?
Hi,
Please make sure that you have at least one required vendor attribute. After being redirected to the Sign In page [you should see “vendor” in the URL], once you sign in or register, the next step will be to complete the vendor profile.
Hope I helped with your request.
Ok. That means the person must have been registered as a user first before having access to complete the profile as a vendor. I was hoping by direct vendor registration, it means anyone who wishes to be a vendor can register directly without necessarily registering as a user.
Hi @kay.datalyze,
That isn’t how HivePress functions. In order to create a listing in HivePress, a user must register for an account first.
By default, when a user registers they are a regular user who can generally browse the site. (e.g A buyer/customer/client)
If that person sells a service for example and wants to add a listing of their own, once they have filled out and submitted the listing details form, they are then classed as a Vendor.
This allows users to have one single account that can use to both use the site as a customer, and sell on the site, too.
If you add at least one required custom Vendor attribute, you can use the direct vendor registration link which will simply continue the flow of signing up and creating a listing all in one go.
Re: your other posts, you can introduce further steps along the way, such as forcing users to sign up for a Membership plan in order to be able to post X number of listings.)
I hope this helps!

Hi,
As ChrisB described, by default, users become vendors only after adding at least one listing that gets approved. If you don’t require vendors to have at least one listing, you can enable direct vendor registration. However, for this form to appear, you need to make at least one attribute required.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Yea, thank you. I understand now.
Can you confirm that the membership extension can restrict users from becoming vendors until they have bought a membership plan? I’ve gone through your documentations, and videos, this isn’t stated clearly. It is only said that it could restrict users from accessing/viewing certain attributes or other website contents.
Hi @kay.datalyze,
Yes, what you describe is 100% possible. I use the same set up myself. I’m not HivePress staff, but they’re aware they have some outdated documentation and others that will be improved over time, but they’re only a small team. It’s incredible what they’ve achieved so far, though - and, it’s continually being developed. There’s several road maps for future updates for HivePress and all* of the extensions. It just a while to get your head around all of the options. Whatever isn’t offered by default can be achieved by hiring a developer for custom work, if necessary. You may find AI can help answer some questions, as well, but take its answers with a pinch of salt!

Ok, thank you.
