Display search filter when selecting all categories

Hey,

I went through some of the filter / category combination threads, but I haven’t understood yet how to allow filtering when All Categories is selected on the left side in the search view. On my site, all attributes map to all categories, and it is a very viable scenario that a user might want to search in all categories, but filter by specific attributes. How can they do that? If they click on All Categories, all the filters disappear.

Thanks, I had already found and read that thread, but hadn’t really understood the solution.

So if I don’t select any category for the attributes, then the attributes can be filtered by when All Categories is selected? Will the attributes then still appear as filter options when selecting a single category? And does this hold true even if I don’t assign any of my attributes to any categories? As in, no attribute is mapped to any category whatsoever - are they then displayed as filter options both when a specific category is selected as well as when All Categories is selected?

  1. Yes. All attributes will be displayed.

  2. If there are certain attributes attached to this category, they will be displayed.

  3. Yes, you can customize the attributes as you like.

  4. Yes.
