Email formatting

From what I’ve experienced and what I’ve been able to gather from this community there seems to be a fundamental issue with the formatting of emails.
The built in emails seem to be stripping out line breaks and paragraph tags. I understand that the easy fix is to overide the standard emails with custom templates. That is easy enough. However, if I use the custom templates I lose the ability to have tokens in the subject line.

Is there a way to either allow
and/or

in the built in emails OR have token functionality in the subject line of the custom template emails?

For me, it’s working smoothly.
I created an email template for “message received” :

Make sure, you use %sender.display_name% and not simply %sender%.

Hope this helps.

Yes! That helps a lot.
I know when an event for the email template is selected, tokens available are displayed. It only diplayed %sender% without indication that there were attributes under %sender%. Do you know if there is any documentation on all of the tokens that might be available?

Yep, I feel your pain.

I’ve just come across this trick reading the forum a couple of days ago, so just sharing what I found out.

I agree that the documentation and the tokens are not up-to-date on this.
There’s room for improvement.

Another very useful trick to have more pro-looking emails :

Thank me later
