How do we manage listings description content?

So currently users can literally write anything they want into the description box which would include all contact details, website etc and it doesn’t suggest what they should write.

Aside from manually checking every listing upon verification and then having the awkward conversation of what may need to be edited/removed.

How do we protect our site from not having all contact details within a free listing?

Which everyone can see without even being required to sign into the site.

Many thanks for your anticipated help in this matter.

Hi,

Unfortunately, there is no automatic way to do this, but as a workaround, we recommend using manual moderation, which you can enable in HivePress > Settings > Listings. As for content restriction, we recommend using our Memberships extension or any third-party content restriction plugin.

May I ask how will the membership extension limit the description box?

Following on with membership extension.
I have set up woo products and one being a free option, do I have to have memberships extension for that to work then?

Hi,

Unfortunately, there is currently no easy solution to bypass manual checking, so you must check listings and approve them manually. Since there is no 100% protection even with patterns, and such an automatic feature is only available for Messages.

Hi there, thank you for the reply.

So let’s say upon adding their listing and it then gets manually approved as the description content is all good.

The user who added the listing to the site can now edit their description at anytime can’t they?

So we would need to monitor all descriptions at all times to ensure they are not putting their contact details in full view instead of using the hive press messages.

I am still working through all of my settings, so just trying to clarify this part.

Many thanks for your reply and suggestions.

Hi,

Unfortunately, yes, the vendor can change the ad description, so you will need to monitor it from time to time.

Is there any way aside manual approval/monitoring that I can block .com or .co.uk being put within their ad?

Hi,

As I mentioned earlier, the only available option is the moderation function. All others will require the integration of third-party plugins or custom implementation.

Ok fair enough. Just wondered whether if I explained a specific term, whether there was an option to block. Ok no worries, it can’t be done.
