How does Security deposit work?

Hi,

I had the impression that the a security deposit of a listing will act as a following.

Example

Listing price: £50

Security deposit: £10

When the client request to book, pays £10 as a deposit, once the day of the listing arrives and the service is completed, the clients automatically pays the remaining £40 of the service.

Instead from what I understood later the security deposit acts as follows: same example above. The clients pays £60 all at once, and once the service is finished the client receive £10 of the security deposit as a refund. Is that correct?

If the second example is correct, is there a way that the first example can be actioned, please.

If yes, how? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Justin

Hi Justin,

The security deposit feature is intended to charge an additional amount from users as a guarantee that the rented property (or any other service/item) will not be damaged.

Please note that this is not a deposit in the sense of a booking prepayment, where a guest pays a percentage of the total amount upfront (for example, 50%) and pays the remaining balance upon arrival.

We do plan to add this type of functionality in the future, but at the moment it is not available out of the box and would require a custom implementation.
