How to change the name of the custom display format

Hello,

I have discovered that when Hivepress Version 1.7.8 is active, it prevents Wordpress admins from changing their display name from the default username to something else, such as their nickname, when we go to the profile and choose from the drop down menu for “Display name publicly as”. This is in Wordpress 6.6.2.

Steps to reproduce

  1. As the site admin, in Wordpress 6.6.2, install and activate Hivepress Version 1.7.8.
  2. Go to the top right corner of the Wordpress dashboard, put your cursor over it and click on “Edit profile”. Make sure the display name is currently your username.
  3. Add a nickname if you don’t already have one, and save.
  4. Scroll down to the drop down menu next to “Display name publicly as” and change the display name to the nickname.

Actual result

  1. Notice that the name in the top right corner changes, now you have to save the new settings. But, after you save it, the name has not changed and is still the username.

Expected result

The display name should be the nickname after you save it in step 5.

Hi,

Yes, we are aware of this issue and will try to fix it as soon as possible. As a workaround, you can select the field that suits you in HivePress > Settings > Users > Display Name and specify a name for the user based on it (i.e. if you select Firsts Name and specify nickname in this field, then nickname will be displayed after saving the changes).
