I updated my listings to have parent categories and moved the existing categories underneath those. However, the counter does not take into account the listings of sub-categories on the first page.
I activated “Display subcategories instead of listings” for the parent category.

Unfortunately, there is no simple solution for this, it will require advanced customization.

how can this be a advanced customization when it works like it should on the ExpertHive theme? There I had no issues with counting the listings under parent categories.

I see. Sorry for the confusion; please try to re-save this category and check if this issue exists. Also, please disable third-party plugins and customizations (if there are any) and check if this issue persists. If you use a caching plugin, make sure that caching is disabled for logged-in users.
Thanks Andrii, I disabled all not relevant plugins and all customizations as well as the caching plugin, but still have the same issue.
Is there a potential bug in the new Meeting Hive theme?
Ok, seems like updating each category is slowly updating on the front-end, just needs some time.
