How to display an attribute in a listing using a template

@kseniia

What I can say is that there is definitely 2 pictures for Ted. If any other cat was the first in the list, the picture for that cat would also be missing.

Our Digital manager would never let me change the Theme even for a moment because changing a theme can create all sort of unpredictable results.

FYI I get the same result if I use the standard listing without a theme.

So now I don’t know what to do unless you have any suggestions?

Bear.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but we can’t assist without reproducing the issue locally because it’s impossible to determine the cause otherwise. That’s why we always recommend first disabling third-party plugins or the theme temporarily to ensure the problem isn’t caused by conflicts with external code or customizations. Only after that can we assume it’s related to HivePress.

In this case, since there are no other bug reports about this and the issue doesn’t reproduce on demo themes or in our local environments, we believe it’s likely caused by a third-party theme and/or plugins. Therefore, our support’s first suggestion is always to disable those to help narrow down the cause in reports like this.

So I have migrated the complete Wordpress instance to another machine using www.updraftplus.com with the intention of changing/removing the theme.

Please understand that this creates a mirror image of the live installation so that you can do whatever you like to it without affecting the live system. If you look at the website, you will see this process is called cloning.

So I logged into the clone system with the intention of changing the theme but then I noticed that the issue that I had been experiencing on the live system was not present on the clone. So on the clone, the first image of an item displayed on a page of multiple items actually has its picture displaying.

Further to this, I am also experiencing an issue that if an individual item only has 1 picture on it, that picture doesn’t show in a list regardless of where it is in the list but if I have 2 or more items, it will display the picture. I can’t understand this either.

So please tell me what I can do now because just by moving to a clone system, the issue has been fixed.

Just a reminder that the live system is www.thatchamtownradio.uk and it is the missing pets and the what’s on pages that exhibit the issue with the first picture of items in the list not showing.

I am at a loss to understand this and what to do about it.

I hope you can help.

Hi,

Thank you for those details.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to troubleshoot specific site issues within our support scope. This falls under website maintenance/setup scope, and if you’re using a third-party theme that’s conflicting and causing difficulties, we’d recommend reaching out to experts for assistance: Customize your website | HivePress.

We provide ready-made software, and our support scope for plugins on WordPress.org covers fixing reported bugs (that are reproducible and not caused by third-party plugins/themes/customizations) and accepting feature requests.

We appreciate your understanding, and if you encounter any issues that fall within our support scope, we’ll be happy to help.

Hi,

The source of the issue was a setting in CyberSEO that would remove the first image in every post that it brings down from an RSS feed. This feature is apparently a global setting which works well if you’re viewing a news page from our partner and not so well if you are the first pussycat in a list of missing cats!

I’ve changed the setting to stop it doing this and it has cured the problem. It now means that every post we create no longer automatically shows the featured image at the top of each post but as it has been pointed out to me, that can be a benefit as it gives us more flexibility.

I’ve just spent an hour posting images at the top of our current posts but it’s a small price to pay to have all of this working as it should.

I am not sure why a plugin designed to do a specific job feels the need to change a global setting. This is the one thing I dislike about Wordpress and that is every plug-in that gives a benefit always seems to create an impact somewhere else.

Thank you all for your comments above.
