How to hide attribute from the frontend

Hi everyone,

I work for a not-for-profit organization that is part of an international network of similar institutions. We are looking to revamp our association’s website to include a public directory of member institutions with various relevant attributes as a kind of showcase of who we are. Additionally, we want to provide an overview of site members (i.e., individuals working at the different organizations) and their contact details, accessible only after logging in.

The desired result (at least to the public) is something similar to the site of REMA, which is a similar kind of assocation, but in an unrelated field.

I’ve been experimenting with HivePress and appreciate its functionality, even though we don’t intend to monetize listings.

I have two key questions:

  1. In my sandbox site set up with HivePress, I’ve set up institutions as ‘listings’ and members as ‘vendors’. Is it possible to associate multiple vendors with a single listing (i.e., multiple individuals connected to one institution)?
  2. Is there a way to hide certain attributes of a listing from being displayed to the public, perhaps by displaying them only in an ‘area’ that is restricted to members only, somehow?

  1. Unfortunately, only one vendor can be listed in one listing.

Would it make sense to invert the usage of listings and vendors to attain the desired result, as multiple listings can be linked to one vendor? Is it possible to make a Hivepress directory with a stong focus on vendors instead of listings?

And secondly, I want sensitive attributes to be editable in the front-end, I only want certain attributes to be hidden for non-registered users on the front-end. I was thinking to perhaps create a new members-only ‘area’ to assign the attributes to. Is this possible?

Yes, all of this can be customized, but it will require advanced customization, as there are no such features yet.
