How to hide only subcategories from the category drop-down?

Hi, i saw in another post in april 2023 you were working on this being implemented. I need to be able to only show the main categories in the drop down search bar with the possibility to drop down into sub categories as i have over 100 sub categories and the user experience is very bad. Have you create a solution for this yet?

Hi,

Unfortunately, there is no simple solution for this yet. But yes, we plan to improve the UI\UX in future updates.

what can i do to work around this? other than hire someone to code me a website

Hi,

I’m sorry, but there is no simple solution. It will require advanced customization. If customizations are required for your site, please try customizing it using the collection of code snippets Search · user:hivepress · GitHub and other developer resources, or consider hiring someone for custom work https://fvrr.co/32e7LvY

Could you tell me when the solution for the category drop down filter will be ready?

Another question, i am using listinghive with elementor. I am having issues with the header image on different pages. On the main directory page the header image looks like how i want it to look. example:

However on other pages it is much more condensed and i want it to look like the header image on the main directory page.

Finally, i am using a seperate page for a home page as the website is not only a business directory, but when i set it as the homepage it removes the header image entirely. How can i resolve these issues?
Thanks

Here is the example of how the header image looks on the other pages.

Hi,

  1. Could you please provide more details on which solution you are referring to?

  2. We currently don’t 100% support Elementor - while you can add HivePress blocks via Elementor, advanced features are not available yet. I highly recommend using the core WordPress block editor to keep the website fast and lightweight How to customize pages - HivePress Help Center, How to customize templates - HivePress Help Center. Regarding the images, please check this doc: How to add a header image to pages - HivePress Help Center

Hi, so i have a few issues now. i hope you can help with some of them.

1- your import tool. When i import my data in a csv, it maps everything correctly including my customised attributes. However, after completing it does not show on the front end the details which i have in the csv. For example, the website url, i have set it up to show in page secondary and block secondary with an icon. however nothing shows. The other issue is my other attributes which are basically the sub categories. As you didn’t have a solution for the subcategories in the search bar i have changed them to attributes to make them searchable and sortable. i have amended the data to include the “subcategory/attribute” and mapped it into the import tool. However these also don’t show and aren’t searchable in the test i’ve run. Any idea how to solve this?

2-Header image. As i showed in the images above, the header image looks correct on the listinghive default homepage. However, on every other page the header image has a much smaller height and you cant really see the image. How can I edit the header image height on these pages? Also, as my site is not only a business directory i have created a new homepage, however when i set the page as the home page the header image is removed entirely, if i remove it as the home page the header image comes back however it is again small like the other pages.

3-overall width of the site. The header nav bar is very wide by standard, and the pages and their content are very thin in comparison. How can i increase the width of the page templates?

I hope you can help and thanks for your time.
Thanks.

Hi,

  1. Please make sure you import listings using this doc: How to set up and import listings - HivePress Help Center, How to add listing attributes - HivePress Help Center

  2. To increase the height of this image, you need to add content there, I recommend that you review these docs in more detail, as we cannot provide more recommendations than what is described there: How to add a header image to pages - HivePress Help Center, How to customize pages - HivePress Help Center. Also, I recommend you to look through the courses depending on your theme: Search results for course | HivePress Help Center

  3. There is no simple solution for this, it will require a custom implementation.

Hi Andrii. Thanks for getting back to me.

1- It still is not working. It is not populating my attribute sections with data. I will attach a video to show you. Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software | Loom

2- Thanks, this works.

3- ok

Hi,

Unfortunately, the video does not show the import process, but only your csv file, please check it in detail and send it again.

Whoops! Here you go: Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software | Loom.

As you can see, it maps the columns itself it just doesn’t pull through the data.

Hi,

I see. Please try to unlink the listing attributes from the category in Listings > Attributes > Edit attribute > and on the right sidebar uncheck all the boxes and then test again.

great, that worked. thankyou. Any idea why though? incase i want to have category specific attributes in the future

Also, it has pulled through the number and email address, but not the sub category attributes.

As you can see there should be listings under Hotels & Hostels. but nothing appears in search

Hi,

As for the attributes that are linked to categories, there is currently a bug that they are not imported, but we plan to fix it as soon as possible. Regarding your second question, please provide more details and we will try to help.

Here is a video showing what I mean: For some reason i now cannot send you a video link to loom? “An error occurred: Sorry you cannot post a link to that host.” appears. how can i send you the video?

I have sub categories listed in the csv, and i have sub categories as an attribute. However, it doesnt seem to pull the data through or map to the sub category column of the csv in the import tool. As you can see, when i go to filter listings by sub category it doesnt work but you can see i have the sub categories listed in the csv.

Any idea how to fix this? Could this be because i have it linked the the “accomodation and real estate” category. If so, what can i do, because those sub categories are specific to that category.

Thanks

Hi,

If there’s a bug with the import extension, you can send any private details via email support@hivepress.io Please send the screencast link and a temporary WP access link (if possible) Temporary Login Without Password – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org We’ll try to debug this further.
