Listing moderation after updates and category changes

Hello HivePress Support Team,

We would like to ask for your guidance regarding two aspects of the listing management workflow:

  1. Requiring moderation after every listing update

Once a listing has been approved and published, the user can subsequently edit its content and images. However, we need any modified listing to be automatically submitted for moderation again before the changes become publicly visible.

This is important because a user could add inappropriate text, misleading information, or images that do not comply with the website’s rules after the listing has already passed its initial review.

Is there a native HivePress setting or recommended solution that automatically changes the listing status to “Pending Review” whenever the user modifies any part of it, including its text, attributes, or images?

If this is not currently supported, we believe it would be a valuable moderation and safety feature to consider for a future update.

  1. Allowing users to change the listing category

When a user edits an existing listing, the category field is no longer displayed. Therefore, the user cannot change the listing’s city or area.

In our directory, categories represent cities and their corresponding areas. Users may relocate or may need to correct the area they initially selected, so they should be able to change the category from the front-end listing edit form.

Is there a supported way to display the category selector when editing an existing listing?

Ideally, changing the category should also cause the listing to return to “Pending Review” so that the new location can be checked before the listing is published again.

If this restriction is part of HivePress’s current standard behaviour, could you please consider allowing administrators to enable category changes in a future version?

  1. You can make all custom attributes moderated by enabling the corresponding checkbox in the attribute settings. This will send listings for moderation every time a custom field is updated.
