Listing Page not loading responsive on mobile

Hello:

I’m new to Hivepress, testing out to see how well it works for what we need to do. I understand that it is preferred to use the themes that you guys offer, but our site is built with generatepress and we wanted to see how well your product can integrate with it.

Currently, we are seeing issue with the ‘detail page’ not loading responsively, you can try it out using this link:
https://owliday.com/listing/happy-hour-meal/

It opens fine on desktop, but on mobile, the content is not loading a mobile-friendly version.

How can we make this work responsively??

Hi,

We have checked your site and it looks like you are using a third-party theme, so unfortunately we can’t help with customization as we are not familiar with it. Also, if you want to use our extensions with third-party themes, please see this doc: Compatibility with third-party themes - HivePress Help Center

I have encountered the same issue as mainobbit, and I must express my frustration with the lack of practical solutions in your response. I have invested significant time learning and configuring HivePress, including setting up various attributes, only to find that listings are not responsive when using the GeneratePress theme. Despite spending hours troubleshooting with ChatGPT, exploring forums, combing through your documentation, and searching on YouTube, I have found no effective solution.

GeneratePress is one of the leading themes, yet HivePress fails to be responsive with it. This significantly hampers the usability of your product in diverse environments, which is disappointing for non-developers aiming for broader integration.

What is most exasperating is the response suggesting that minor CSS tweaks are all that’s needed, without offering any specific guidance or examples. It would be immensely helpful if your team could provide concrete steps or code snippets to address this responsiveness issue.

Please consider offering more constructive support for integrating HivePress with GeneratePress. Detailed instructions or a dedicated compatibility guide would greatly assist many of us facing similar challenges.

Hi,

We do not plan to add integrations with this theme, and we do not guarantee 100% compatibility with third-party themes, as there are many of them and it would take a lot of work. Therefore, we create our own themes that are fully compatible with our extensions. Each theme requires an individual solution to make it work correctly with our extensions, so there is no simple guide here, as each theme is different: Compatibility with third-party themes - HivePress Help Center

Hi,

I understand that maintaining compatibility with every third-party theme is challenging. However, I want to highlight a few critical points:

  1. Closed System: HivePress operates as a closed system, limiting flexibility for users who prefer or need to work with themes like GeneratePress. While HivePress itself is free, many of the essential extensions come at a cost. This makes it crucial for users to have broader theme compatibility to justify the investment.
  2. Compatibility Issues: As a non-developer, it’s frustrating to discover that creating a real estate portal using HivePress with a different theme is not feasible due to compatibility problems. Despite the extensive code snippets and documentation provided, there are fundamental incompatibilities—such as responsive issues when viewing listings with other themes—that prevent using HivePress as a viable solution for a Real Estate Agency.
  3. Lack of Support for Fundamental Issues: The absence of support or detailed guidance for making HivePress work with popular themes like GeneratePress is disappointing. While minor CSS tweaks are suggested, they do not address deeper compatibility issues. Specific examples, code snippets, or even a general compatibility guide would be immensely helpful for those of us trying to navigate these issues.

Your response has made it clear that there are no plans to support third-party themes fully. I appreciate the transparency, but it’s important to communicate these limitations more clearly upfront to avoid users investing time and resources into a solution that may not meet their needs.

Thank you for your time.

Hi,

We have this information in our policy, you can find it here: Support Policy | HivePress

If our extension is not suitable for your theme and you are unable to create a custom integration, I recommend considering other extensions that will work with your theme, or consider purchasing our themes.
