ListingHive questions

I have been using ExpertHive theme for my business but I may pivot to ListingHive. A few questions.

  • do listings have to be for sale/purchase. I do not want this feature, I want users to browse products/services and then be able to contact that vendor via message.
  • Can I limit the number of messages a user or vendor can send?
  • Can I limit the number of “apply to listing” messages a user can have? ie. restrict this or add a certain amount to their monthly subscription
  • Can I create monthly subscription packages that I can set the amount of listings those vendors can have (ie. tier 2 package gets 3 listings)
  • can you determine attributes to add to the vendors profile? Or is this a basic profile similar to the non-vendor user of ExpertHive?
  • Can I add more attributes to the listings themselves. In the live demo I only see a few attributes but I will require more

Hi @Knode,

  1. Listings without purchase/sale features: Yes, absolutely! You don’t need to enable the purchase functionality. Users can browse listings and contact vendors via messages. The messaging system works independently of any payment features.

  2. Limiting messages: Yes, you can restrict messaging using the Memberships extension. This allows you to limit the number of messages users or vendors can send based on their membership tier. You can also enable the message monitor feature to block or monitor messages.

  3. Limiting “apply to listing” messages: This would require custom implementation, but the Memberships extension can help you control messaging limits as part of subscription packages.

  4. Monthly subscription packages with listing limits: Yes! You can use the Memberships extension to create tiered subscription plans where each tier includes a specific number of listings. For example, Tier 2 could allow 3 listings per month. Please note that HivePress currently doesn’t have recurring payments built-in, but if you have the WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin installed, it will work with HivePress.

  5. Vendor profile attributes: Yes, you can fully customize vendor profiles by adding custom fields. Check out this documentation: How to add vendor profile fields

  6. Adding more listing attributes: Absolutely! You can add as many custom attributes as needed to listings. See this guide: How to add listing attributes

I hope this helps!

Cheers,

Hi,

It seems that Chris has already answered all your questions, but I just wanted to add that themes are responsible for the design, while plugins handle the functionality.

Since you’re planning to switch between themes within the HivePress ecosystem, there should be no issues.

However, it’s always a good practice to create a backup so you can easily restore your site if needed.
