Marketplace alongside Directory with Woo Commerce?

I’d like to also set up a page that has a marketplace of goods that my vendors sell. They will not be for sale on the website, but a marketplace type page that will show an image of their product with a few details and then link back to either their vendor profile or listings page. Is this possible? AI tells me Woo Commerce allows a set-up like this but I wonder if it will work alongside the hivepress theme?

Hi @Knode,

Yes, you can use WooCommerce alongside ListingHive, but there are some important considerations:

  1. WooCommerce products won’t integrate with HivePress listings — they operate as separate systems. WooCommerce products and HivePress listings don’t share the same display or functionality.

  2. What you’re describing is possible, but with limitations:

  • You could create WooCommerce products to display vendor goods
  • However, these would be separate from your HivePress listings and vendor profiles
  • Linking them back to vendor profiles would require custom development
  1. A better approach for your use case:
  • Instead of using WooCommerce products, I’d recommend using HivePress listings themselves as your marketplace display. You can:

  • Create listings for the products/services vendors offer

  • Display them on a dedicated marketplace page

  • Link directly to vendor profiles or their other listings

  • This keeps everything within the HivePress ecosystem with no compatibility issues

  1. If you need custom integration: If you specifically want to use WooCommerce products alongside HivePress, this would require custom development. You can explore the Experts page for professional help.

My recommendation: Use HivePress listings for your marketplace display, it’s simpler, more integrated, and avoids potential theme conflicts.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,

Hi,

You can consider using listings as products by simply creating a separate top-level category for the marketplace part of your site. If you are not selling directly through the website, there is usually no need to treat them as WooCommerce products or link them to WooCommerce at all.
