Membership Plans Questions/Clarifications

Hello I have few questions about the membership extension.

I have 4 plans on my website. 1 free and 3 paid.

Plan A = free with 1 listing per month
Plan B = paid with unlimited listings per month
Plan C = Feature 1 listing for 7 days + 1 bonus listing
Plan D = Feature 1 listing for 30 days + 1 bonus listing

My questions are:

  1. I want every new user account to have Plan A applied automatically and it should also be renewed by itself. In other words, users who create an account should be able to post 1 listing without being redirected to the plans page and it should also automatically renew (1 listing limit reset) by itself. How can I achieve this?
  2. Is it possible to restrict Category to a plan? Right now I only see option for attributes/pages?
  3. What is the functionality of Restrictions (Listings) > Pages > Single Pages/All Pages?
  4. For my Plan B, how do I set Submission Limit to unlimited. Does leaving the box mean unlimited?
  5. If a user on my website has paid for Plan B and they post x number of listings, when their plan expires, what happens to the listings that they already posted? Are they able to edit, renew, feature them? Or are they restricted from accessing them until they re-subscribe to the paid plan?
  6. For the Plans Page on my website. I only want to show Plan A & Plan B. I want to show my Plan C and Plan D on a separate page called Promote. I created a separate page called Promote and added the Membership Plans block in page editor which only has option to show: number of plans and number of columns. The question is, how can I make this block only show Plan C and Plan D?
  7. If I want Plan C & Plan D to never expire, how can I achieve this? In other words, if a user buys one of Feature Listing plans, how can I make it so that the Feature Listing that they paid for stays on their account forever until they use it? I want it so that users can buy same plan (i.e. Plan C - feature listing for 7 days) multiple times. And every time they do, their feature-listing-limit increases, and stays on their account until and unless they utilize them?

Thank you.

Hi,

  1. Please check the solution in this topic: How can I set a default membership plan during registration?. We haven’t tested it ourselves, but it has worked for several users.

  2. Unfortunately, category restrictions aren’t currently available in Memberships. However, we’re planning to add this feature in the first few months of next year.

  3. “Single Page” refers to individual listing pages. This means users will be able to see all listings in the directory, but they’ll need an active membership plan to view the details of a specific listing. “All Pages” works similarly, except that the main listings page (where all listings are displayed) will only be accessible to members.

  4. You can set a very high number like 9999 or something similar that would be difficult to reach in practice.

  5. Limits are only counted when the actual action occurs. The Submission Limit determines how many additions or renewals can be made. The limit decreases when a listing is added, and if you’ve also set an Expiration Period for listings, users will need to have a non-zero membership limit to renew expired listings. For example, to offer one free listing per month (without WooCommerce Subscriptions), you could set a 30-day Expiration Period for listings and create a plan with a Submission Limit of 1. Users would add their listing and wouldn’t be able to add more until renewal time. When it’s time to renew (if they want to keep it active), they can select the free plan again with the limit of 1 to renew it, or use that submission to add a new listing instead. This way, they’ll have a maximum of one new listing per month, or they can renew one of their existing listings. In short, if there’s no expiration date set for listings and the plan expires, the listings will remain active on the site.

  6. The ability to display specific plans in the Plans block isn’t available yet, but we’re planning to add it soon as it’s a priority. Currently, you can filter plans on the plans page by restrictions. For example, if you click the star icon next to a listing title in Account > Listings (the star icon appears if you have at least one plan with a featuring limit), you’ll see only plans that include featuring, and the URL will contain something like restriction=listing_feature_limit. The challenge is showing only your first two plans, since your featuring plans also have Submission Limits. If you choose this option, we can provide a URL that displays only plans with specific submission limits.

  7. If you’re not using WooCommerce Subscriptions, you can enter a very large number in the plan’s Expiration Period field and write “Unlimited” in the plan description.

Hope I helped with your request.
