Messages keeps bolded as "unread" even after opening the message

Hi,

I couldn’t at least find a fix for this or that anyone else has reported, but in the Messages if a user gets a message and just opens it without replying to the message, it still keeps the message as unread (bolded on the messages list). I tried to implement custom code to work around this but nothing worked, could you please fix this from your end? Or provide a code snipped that actually works?

It’s pretty bad UX for users and now they’re just stuck on a “infinity loop” to always be the one that have the last say to get the name not bolded.

I have no other plugins currently active for testing purposes so it definitely comes from the Hivepress plugin somehow.

Steps to reproduce

Send a message from user A to user B > open the message with user B > go back to the messages list > see the name still bolded

Expected result

Message should show as not bolded (See the screenshot attached, how “Sisu Talents” is without bolding. That’s how it should be after opening the message.)

Extra details

My site is still in “coming soon” mode but I can share a link/access if needed. But again, this is something that happens with only the Hivepress plugins active.

Never mind, it was actually a code on my end that caused the issue (I did not realise I had it in the theme functions.php file). I’ll send you an email so I don’t spam the error threads, this probably needs customisation help.
