I recently added the geolocation extension with google maps. I generated the API key as well as a ‘secret key’ and plugged it in. Now on both front end and back end when trying to add a new vendor the “location” field does not keep any value in it. I try to type in a city, and then it changes to the current address I am located at, but then the information does not stay in there and when I click “submit” it tells me I must complete that field. It is crucial for my directory that the filter and search will be able to include regions as my vendors likely service regions such as states, countries, etc. I am at a standstill until this is fixed.
Hi,
Please make sure you’ve added all necessary APIs to the key [Places API (New), Geocoding API, and Maps JavaScript API], as it appears the Geolocation configuration isn’t complete, there’s no dropdown showing suggested locations. Please follow this guide step by step once more to ensure everything is configured correctly: How to get a Google Maps API key - HivePress Help Center
I watched the video again to ensure I followed the steps. Please see screencast showing restrictions for both keys and how I have it set up in HivePress. I am not sure what you mean by “there’s no dropdown showing suggested locations.”?
Thank you for the screencast. For security reasons, please avoid sharing screenshots or videos that contain your license key or other sensitive information. I’ve deleted it to protect your account.
Regarding the dropdown I mentioned earlier, the Geolocation extension works by suggesting addresses as you type, rather than allowing you to manually enter any address. Once you start typing, it should display matching addresses for you to select from.
Please add the Places API (New) to your license key as mentioned in the documentation. I noticed your key currently has the old Places API, which is no longer supported by Google.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you! the Places API (New) was the solution. Appreciate your time on this!
Glad to help. ![]()
