NFC solution without an account

Hi,

I’ve a free membership that allows the visibility of hidden contact details. Paid memberships for listing.

I have a ln idea to sell window stickers to physical shops with an NFC to connect to their profile should the shop be shut.

However, for someone tapping on the NFC, the last thing I want is them needing to create an account in order to favourite the vendor.

Has anyone got any ideas that I could somehow take the NFC tapper to vendor page and then have a button to send themselves an email link - so I stand a chance of them connecting again?

Of course there may be a better workflow I’m not aware of.

Hi,

Sorry, but we’re not familiar with NFC integration in WordPress. If you’re referring to payments, please check if there are any third-party plugins available for this.

Sorry, not sure I made sense. this is really a question for the community.

You can use NFC tags as a way of opening links to websites (or they can contain other data ie contacts, phone numbers, etc) and I was wondering if I embedded them in a shop window sticker we could drive traffic to the directory - and so my question was if anyone else was doing that and how / if bypass login for any hidden information to make the experience smoother

Hi @matt_breathes,

Just wondering - are you perhaps confusing NFC tags with QR codes?

QR code example:

I’ve not looked into the technical limitations of either, but the following links might prove useful for you.

  1. What is NFC Tag, and How Does It Work? – NFC Tagify
  2. Select a type of QR Code | QR Code.io

If it is QR codes you mean (or, if they would work) the following plugin might be helpful for generating dynamic codes based on the current page being viewed.

If NFC tags are required due to authentication requirements, this plugin might be what you’re after…

And, this page:

Gives a basic implementation plan using that plugin.

If you’re not comfortable coding yourself, you might want to consider hiring a HivePress Expert to help implement your idea. You can find vetted Experts here:

I hope this helps, and I look forward to hearing how you get on!

Cheers,
Chris :victory_hand:

Thanks Chris. I know about writing to the NFCs and what you can do, it was more the bypassing of hivepress membership that I can’t get my head around to show listing or vendor details normally hidden by the membership - ie if they are a person in the street tapping a nfc, they are human and the url pretty safe from being scraped and so let them see all details.

What I don’t want is the person tapping on the street to be sent to a listing with hidden details that they then have to register to get the listing / contact details of the shop to be able save them - registering wouldn’t take them back to that listing either

Theres many ways I could do this I suppose ie NFC contains url and listing or vendors ID, which is an email record so they get an email with the shops hivepress url and contact details - this way I don’t bypass the display restriction, but the nfc may become out of date, hence wanting visitor to always get info from the hivepress

Sorry if I don’t make sense!
