Is there a way to remove the photo placeholder for listings that don’t have a photo?

Yes, if you are familiar with code customization then please try to remove the placeholder image code in the plugins/hivepress/templates/listing/view/block/listing-image.php with the child theme. Looks like the child-theme generator is no longer available for download from Wordpress.
