I’ve checked a couple of posts from the past discussing the same topic, seems like you planned to implement this feature over 3 years ago, but I assume it’s still not released?
I’m creating a rental marketplace for different type of transport, and such feature is crucial for my business. To be more specific:
I want users to be able to select the dates for booking, and estimated time to pickup the transport, as much as the time for a drop-off.
So, it requires Date and Time selection to work simultaneously.
Is there any updates on this feature? Are you planning to implement it anytime soon?
If no, what are the workarounds?
Is there any plugins that might help achieve this features? Or is it possible to custom code? (If custom coding is an option, do you have anyone to recommend, to develop such a code?)

Please clarify, do you mean to add the ability to book by hours (for example, some free part of the day) to a daily or nightly booking, or do you just need to display the choice of time for information (i.e. when will they pick up and when will they drop off)? To answer your question: I’m not looking to switch the whole system to hourly or nightly bookings only — instead, I need a combined date and time selection, system that supports both scenarios depending on the listing category.
Here’s exactly what I need to achieve:
Cars and Motorbikes
Bookings should require date and time for both pickup and drop-off (similar to how Turo.com works).
The user should be able to select:
Pickup date + time
Drop-off date + time
This is essential for proper scheduling and host preparation.
Boats
Boats are usually rented by the hour, but sometimes users might want to pre-book for specific days in advance.
So ideally:
The booking calendar should allow both date and time selection , with the option to rent by hours .
A flexible system where boats can be booked, for example, from 10:00 to 13:00 on May 28th.
Alternatively, if this is not currently possible, I’m open to allowing time-based bookings only for boats (i.e., hourly slots on selected days).
Summary of Requirements:
Combined date and time picker (start and end) for listings.
Ability to configure category-specific behavior, e.g.:
Cars & Motorbikes: date + time (daily basis).
Boats: time-based booking (hourly), ideally with optional date selection.
Display and logic should adjust accordingly per listing type or category.

Would this require modifying the Booking extension directly?

It’s hard to say without further research, but it’s definitely possible to customize the booking form and replace the fields depending on the listing category (e.g. add 2 date and 2 time fields).

Unfortunately there’s no ETA for this yet, but we have some features planned regarding this, for example allowing users to select a time range instead of selecting multiple time slots one by one.
