Queries Regarding HivePress Vendor Profiles & Customization

Hi Team,

We are exploring HivePress to build a marketplace platform for BFSI professionals. We have installed the plugin on Wordpress and are experimenting with vendor profiles and templates. During this process, we have encountered the following challenges:

  1. Currently, it is not possible to assign multiple categories to a vendor. As a workaround, we have used an attribute of type “checkboxes.” However, we would like to display these categories with distinct images (similar to listing categories), but there doesn’t appear to be an option for this.
  2. We have created attributes for “Years of Experience” and “Applicable Date.” Is there a way to automatically update the experience each year based on the applicable date?
  3. The attachment attribute seems to allow only a single file. How can we enable multiple file uploads to create a document folder or gallery-like experience?
  4. We do not wish to reveal the identity of vendors. Instead, each vendor should be identified by a unique number. Is it possible to assign a system-generated sequential (auto–updating) ID to each new vendor upon registration?
  5. While working with vendor templates and referring to available YouTube tutorials, we’ve noticed that achieving the desired look and feel often requires additional CSS. We would prefer to minimize this. Would using a theme like ExpertHive help with ready-made templates and reduce the need for custom styling?
  6. While the screens and displays are quite engaging, they have a distinct B2C or retail feel to it. Is there any corporate look-n-feel that we can apply to this user interface?
  7. Is it possible to integrate the site with WhatsApp and Mailchimp?

We look forward to your guidance on the above points so that we can effectively leverage HivePress for our use case.

Hi,

Thanks for choosing HivePress for your platform,

  1. Yes, in HivePress categories are used rather like distinct types, for multiple choice selection I recommend using selectable attributes. Vendor categories also have no category cards like listing categories do, but we plan to add this feature. For custom attributes, please try using a third-party plugin that offers custom taxonomy shortcode or block – since selectable attributes are registered as taxonomies, they are detected by third-party plugins.
  2. Unfortunately there’s no such feature, but we’ll consider adding it. Currently this may be possible via the code customizations.
  3. We plan to add this feature in future updates.
  4. Yes, these IDs are already assigned by WordPress (they may not be sequential since listings are stored in the same database table), to show these IDs you can override the vendor name (or other template part) via a child theme.
  5. This depends on the requirements, it’s possible to re-arrange any layout blocks by overriding templates in HivePress/Templates without code (or using code snippets from our collection, this forum, or our AI Assistant), but styling specific elements within blocks (for example changing the vendor name font size) may require CSS tweaks. This may be also simplified via plugins like Yellow Pencil, also common styles like primary/secondary colors and fonts can be changed in Appearance/Customize. Premium themes just have more design options (for example sliders for listings/vendors, or horizontal view of listings like ExpertHive does), but they have the same customization flow.
  6. I recommend checking if any of our themes match the required design better, for example, you can check JobHive or MeetingHive, both have minimalist/modern design, and you can use our themes for any niche, not necessarily for the niche shown on the demo.
  7. There’s an integration with MC4WP plugin, if you enable it then the Mailchimp “Sign up for newsletter” checkbox will appear in the HivePress registration form. For WhatsApp, you can add a button based on the Phone number attribute if needed (so it will open WhatsApp on click).

Hope this helps
