is it normal to get 40k Mapbo Search calls? I have hit the limit on mapbox free tier (they are asking for $20) and I hardly have any traffic from real customers? What is making so many calls and how can i reduce it on the search?

Please make sure that your key is restricted to only one domain, namely your website, as it is possible that someone else is using your key. Also, please clarify whether you have enabled regions. Additionally, you can try filtering by search URL and listing pages in your analytics and check if the numbers are roughly the same.
