I have the Memberships extension and in Restrictions - Content Types I added all the items: Users, Vendors, Listings and Requests.
On the page itself, an unlogged user does not see pages with the Listings category, but he does see the page with Vendors and Requests.
Is there updated documentation available, as the existing instructions say very little and seem outdated?

Hi,
Apologies for the lack of comprehensive documentation. We’re working on it.
Please go to the Membership plan and select All Pages or Single Page in the Restrictions (Vendors) section. This will hide the vendors [or vendor] page until the membership is bought. In short, if you need to apply restrictions to a specific content type, set them in the corresponding section.
Also, please make sure that you’re testing restrictions with a regular [not admin] user.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Hi, thank you for your answer
I am using a non-admin user for testing restrictions.
I didn’t want to create a membership plan, I wanted to generally prevent access to all pages for unregistered users. User and vendor registration is disabled, as they will be added by the admin.
Isn’t this setting exactly for restricting access : HivePress / Settings / Content type: Vendors. The little ? icon says exactly this. It’s working for Listings, but not for Vendors and Requests.
I created a Plan (free) and in it under Restriction General I added a Vendors Page. The Vendors page is now hidden for unregistered users - the Plans page opens. However, this Plans page (or redirect) opens even if the user logs in and this user has this Plan assigned to their profile.
This Content Types option is mainly used to hide unnecessary UI and settings if you don’t plan to apply restrictions for certain entities.
For example, if you select Vendors there, then the plans will have a Restrictions (Vendors) settings section, but you still need to create at least one plan. The plan itself is what actually applies the restriction. In other words, an action or a page becomes restricted only if there is at least one plan that limits it.
If you want to lock almost everything, please create one plan, and in its settings select All Pages in every relevant section (General, Listings, Vendors, etc.).
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
thanks for the answer,
I already have one Plan and now I have marked All pages in all sections - and the test user still did not see the vendors page, …
After my tests I find that the setting does not work because my test user is already assigned to this plan, and the changes I make on the plan itself are not transferred to the settings that this user has with this plan.
When you assign a Plan to a user, all the Plan settings are transferred to the user under Memberships, but they are not updated later if you change the Plan itself.
Is this a bug, or does it mean that if you have 3000 users in one plan and you update/change this plan, that this change will not affect 3000 users and that you have to update them manually?
When you modify a plan’s settings, existing members with active memberships based on that plan are not affected until their membership expires or renews. This is intentional and by design. When a user purchases a membership, they’re essentially accepting the terms and restrictions of the plan at that moment. The membership restrictions are “copied” from the plan to the individual membership at the time of purchase. This ensures that the terms remain consistent throughout the duration of their current membership period.
This protects both you and your members. For example, if you decide to reduce the listing limit on a plan (effectively making it more restrictive or valuable), this change will only apply to: new members who purchase after the change or existing members when they renew. Current members continue with the terms they agreed to when they purchased. This makes sense because they paid for specific terms, and it wouldn’t be fair to change those restrictions mid-membership. When their membership expires and they renew, the new plan restrictions will apply at that point.
If you need to change restrictions for specific existing members, you can manually edit individual memberships in WordPress > Memberships. However, the system intentionally doesn’t apply plan changes to active memberships automatically to maintain fairness and consistency.
Hope I helped with your request.
Thank you for your answer.
It would be really good if this information was visible on your website or in the documentation. Without you explaining to us through support how this works, it is practically impossible to set up the system correctly. When we decide which systems and solutions offered by the market are suitable for our customers, all this information is important. In my case, your information called into question my decision to implement your solution for the customer.
My client plans to upgrade the system in the future. Requests were not planned either. Maybe in a few months we will implement other extensions like Marketplace, Bookings, .. All these upgrades will be inaccessible to unregistered users and as a reward, added for free to existing members. I did not plan to have a Plan time limit, so Members don’t have the option to renew the plan.
How can I intentionally force synchronization of changes in the Plan to Members. Given that the synchronization function itself exists, since it is performed upon renewal, I can somehow call it with code that I would put in functions.php. Code that will be added to the Plans grid and will say Synchronize Plan to all users of this Plan
Could you please clarify how many membership plans have already been created in HivePress Memberships? If there are only a dozen or so, it may be simplest to manage them manually. Creating a sync script would require custom coding — while we can provide general guidance, there isn’t a built-in feature for this at the moment. This is because plan restrictions are copied to the membership at the time of creation or renewal, allowing any changes to the plan (such as prices or restrictions) to apply only to new memberships.
We’ll also work on improving the documentation and clarifying any inconsistencies regarding page restrictions.
