If the “display categories instead of listings” in the setup of HivePress, it seems that the search function does not “search” in all categories if none is selected.
You can find OXYNODE if you first select the “Entreprise” Category [the 1st one] (either in the dropdown list or by clicking it on the first page) OR by clicking on it after a failed search
This behaviour does not occur if the “display categories instead of listings” is not selected in the setup of HivePress
Only one plugin activated : geoloc but the problem occurs even if it’s disabled
Warning : to re-init the page you must click on the URL because the site logo and menu are not currently displayed
We checked this issue from our side, and it seems okay. Searching by OXYNODE is displayed correctly in both variants if a category is selected or not selected. If you have the possibility, please send any screen recording of your actions step by step so we can reproduce the issue locally.
I just deactivated the “display categories instead of listings” in order to work on settings.
Now it’s reactivated , please retry to reproduce the problem described above.
In fact found on this forum that could be an “expected” behaviour…
I don’t think it’s correct because the search filter clearly indicates the possibility to choose “ALL categories” and by the way it works when a result has been previously displayed without selecting a category, so…
Sorry for the confusion. Yes, this option always forces the user to select a category and shows on the top-level categories and not listings until the user selects a category. This feature is useful if there are many different attributes and filters attached to a category, and it would not make sense to show them all together in one filter form.
Thank you for your answer, I understand the purpose of this option now
In that case I will either uncheck the option or force people choose a category and remove the search bar this this code snippet :
May I suggest to add in the settings a tooltip next to the checkbox explaining the behaviour just like you did for Title or Expiration date ?
By the way, wouldn’t it be usefull to be able to :
remove the “ALL” option from the dropdown list if the user is on the category selection page because in the current state it seems to really offer the possibility to search in “ALL” of them ?
put an option or a button or a link to offer the visitor to access the full content of all listings without filters (maybe with a simple URL on a text link…) added manually ?
