Search for Listings and Vendors with a LIST of REGION like the list of Categories

Hello,

We cannot use the Geolocation Plugin because the Google and OpenStreetMap don’t work in China (25% of our clients) …

Please do you know if HivePress Team plans to add Search for Listings and Vendors with a LIST of REGION (like the list of Categories) ? if yes, when it will be updated ?

Thank you,

Chris

Hi,

If I understand your request correctly, you can create a custom field in Listings > Attributes. You can add a custom Select attribute, mark it as searchable by choosing the appropriate field type in the Search section so this option appears, and then use it for your cities. This is actually how many users implement a list of cities on their sites. However, if you have many cities to add, you might need to import them, which could require additional work.

Let me know if this is what you’re looking for.

Hi,

Thank you for your help … yes sure, we can create a new ‘Select’ attribute/Field call Country with around 200 countries … we have around 1000 categories (catalog of products) and it’s difficult to navigate through these categories by selecting the country again and again in a Filter every time we change categories … then , we are looking for an alternative to avoid this problem …

Thanks for the details.

I’m still trying to fully understand the issue you’re experiencing. Could you help me clarify a few things?

From what I understand, when a Select attribute is added for countries, what specifically makes selecting from the dropdown problematic? How would you expect this to work in the UI to make it easier? The dropdown should actually show a search field when there are 25+ items, so you shouldn’t need to scroll through all the options.

I’m also not quite sure what you mean by “again and again”, is this referring to needing to select filters each time you start a new search? That’s the standard behavior since filters need to be chosen for each search.

If you could provide a bit more detail about what’s causing difficulty or what behavior you’re expecting, I’d be happy to help find a solution.
