SORT BY: Soonest event

Sort by: date. This does not sort the events by soonest to latest (and vice versa) which makes it useless. I have tied code workarounds but this bug should be fixed due to it’s basic nature and required functionality.

Steps to reproduce

Add events with different dates and try sorting them by soonest to latest

Actual result

Dates are jumbled, with no clear pattern

Expected result

The user should see the soonest events by date

Hi,

The Date sort option sorts listings by the date they were added, not by the soonest or latest event date. If you want to sort listings by a custom attribute (for example, an Event Date), you can create this attribute in Listings > Attributes, set its type to Date, and enable it as sortable in the Search section.

Hope this helps.

Hello and thank you, but this is not a search, this would need to be an option in the SORT BY dropdown

I understand you were referring to the sorting option, and I believe my suggestion should work for your use case. To enable an attribute as a sorting option, you’ll need to go to the Search section of that attribute’s settings. Once you enable this option, the attribute will appear in the sort dropdown on the frontend.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

it jumbles the dates, see site

I wanted to clarify that the functionality you’re describing is already available. If your listings are events, using a custom Date attribute marked as Sortable is the right approach for sorting them chronologically.

I also noticed that all your listings appear to be Featured. Please note that Featured listings always appear at the top of search results, regardless of the selected sorting option. If you have more Featured listings than available Featured spots in the search results, they’ll display in random order within those spots.

I’d recommend keeping just a few listings as Featured and leaving the rest as regular listings. This way, the regular listings will follow the sorting order you’ve selected (like by event date), which should give you the chronological display you’re looking for.
