What are social links supposed to do? Are they arbitary links to post on various social networks or are they a way to let people share the listing on social networks?
My goal is to have an easy way to allow visitors to share the listing on other networks.

If you mean Social Links extension, it is the easiest way to add social links to the listing and vendor pages. You can select links allowed for addition and display them as icons or buttons. As for sharing listings on social networks, I recommend checking out this topic: How to share booking\listing in social feed - #2 by andrii
