I’m a bit confused here. I’ve seen older threads explaining that it’s not really possible to have free listings with few fields than paid/premium listings.
As an example, a free listing only has name, address and phone number. A paid listing would have free stuff + website and pictures.
What’s the point in having paid and paid tiers if you can’t differentiate the fields for the packages? What am I missing?
In case it helps, my use case is we pre-load all listings in our niche, but also allow users to create new listings that we miss. A user can claim or create a listing. They can choose a free listing with minimal fields or a premium listing with expanded fields. This is an intuitive monetization option that other listing platforms have (ex: Listingpro).
Hey,
I’m not HivePress staff, but hopefully this helps!
…The Paid Listings extension has now been merged with the Memberships extension which allows you to restrict access to view/edit any field/attribute for listings/vendors/users and more, including the paid listing functionality.

Thanks. I have a developer trying to set this up and he’s running into issues. Which just seems odd. I would think this functionality would be native to a listing directory site and not require any customization.
Which makes me think I’m missing something.
Hi,
Thank you for your feedback. Yes, the Paid Listings extension has limited functionality, so it would require a custom implementation. We recently merged the Memberships and Paid Listings extensions, and now in Memberships you can set up restrictions for free plan. Therefore, we recommend that you consider purchasing the Memberships extension.
And in using the membership extension, you can have different fields for paid and free?
Hi,
If you mean restricting the display or editing of fields, then yes, you can select different fields for different plans.
