Change category field type for searchbar

Hi, I tried to enable categories for the search bar in hivepress and it is a really nice feature. The problem is that ALL categories show at once, and since we have around 60+ categories the customer is probably never going to want to swipe through all of them to find what they need.

Is it possible for the field to work as the header category dropdown, or like it works in requests and offers that you can go from main category to subcategory within the category field?

If you mean to change the category display type, it is possible, but it will require a custom implementation. You can check out the sample in this topic Show all sub categories in filter sidebar by default - #8 by moscato
