Multilingual website with HivePress

Hi,

I’m building a multilingual website with HivePress (ListingHive theme) and TranslatePress. The site works fine, but we cannot translate the custom attributes (filters in the search sidebar, like “Rooms”, “Offer type”, etc.).

We already tried Loco Translate and TranslatePress, but since attributes are custom terms created by us, they don’t appear in string translation.

Can you please advise:

• What is the recommended way to translate attributes and their options (values)?
• Is there an official extension (HivePress Multilingual or similar) that allows us to manage translations for attributes, categories, and filter options in multiple languages?
• Or should we add translations manually in the attributes section?

Hi @cristian,

Loco Translate is the recommend option to change any static text in HivePress, and there isn’t an official multilingual extension.

However, others have asked similar questions regarding multilingual site on the forum previously, and so, some of these answers might be of use to you:

As far as i understand there is no way for loco translate to translate the labels. I have seen threads where the “answer” was to just “translate” the label, but this does not work if your site supports multiple languages. Is there any way to for attribute labels to support more then one language? Any snippet or code guidance would help.

The translation plugins available all seem to have flaws, especially when trying to integrate with HivePress. Hi,

Unfortunately, there’s no specific integration with TranslatePress at the moment. We’re working on the WPML integration though and plan to release it this week, we’ll also check if it’s possible to integrate with TranslatePress in future versions.

Attributes are not static strings but they are registered as a custom “hp_listing_attribute” post type, please check if TranslatePress has some settings for translating this custom post type (e.g. after enabling it in settings).
