I’m currently using WooCommerce to manage payments on my Hivepress site, but I’ve noticed that it significantly slows down the website. Since website speed is essential for both user experience and SEO, I feel that WooCommerce might be overkill just to collect payments and allow users to feature their listings.
Is there a simpler way to manage payments, specifically for featuring listings, without relying on the full WooCommerce plugin? Ideally, I’m looking for a solution that’s easy to set up and doesn’t negatively impact my site’s performance.
As an alternative, I was wondering if it could be feasible to create a checkout link using Stripe to handle payments for featured listings. I understand that Hivepress doesn’t currently handle payments natively, but are there any plans to introduce a lightweight add-on to reduce the dependency on WooCommerce? Unfortunately, we don’t plan to add another plugin as a payment integration, as WooCommerce is the main core plugin that works without any issues. As for the site speed, we recommend checking other third-party plugins and hosting provider settings, as WooCommerce does not have a significant impact on site speed. I don’t know about integration I guess it would be pretty time consuming looking at the stripe docs and changing woocommerce code. Another feature that woocommerce does not have but stripe connect does is vendor dashboard with live statistics. It can also charge % of the transaction itself and give it to the account itself or even directly to the bank account. Not mentioning woocommerce transaction fee + transaction %. I feel like that way it would be much more secure as we are not dealing with any payment options and giving it to 3rd party providers (woocommerce, woocommerce payments + other plugins) the stripe does everything for us.
For multi vendor / multi directory purposes like hivepress provides, woocommerce is just not suitable. I mentioned ghost links and other worrying stuff in this thread:
I feel like stripe itself would be 1000 times better even with subscription model or packages (which could be set up as 1 time subscripion from stripe side!).
Can this potentially be a plug-in or just massive customization? All the files are in the theme + hp extensions, I guess?

We are planning to improve the integration features, but unfortunately we don’t have the exact information how it will look like yet, but we have added your ideas to the feature request for this option. In this version, it is possible to use only WooCommerce integration.
Thanks for feedback! I think adding this would not be a “feature” more like complete re-work of the hivepress-woocommerce integration (changing that to stripe). I was just thinking about some payment - payout ideas.
But would this be possible with custom coding? I mean changing every part of hivepress code related to woocommerce and using stripe docs istead. Or is that hard-coded and not accessible via ftp or default wordpress files.
